Oldham & Tameside Partnership Gathering – Sat 5th March

We grew out of a brave, radical vision for being a church – committed to following Jesus, healing the divisions within the church, and making a Jesus-shaped difference in our communities and nations.

When we set up Missional Partnerships, we did so in response to a fresh call of the Spirit and in order to “see Jesus more clearly, love him more dearly and follow him more nearly”.

This is a day to discover and celebrate the excitement of just how unique and radical our United Reformed Church is!  We’ll examine what it means to be a URC in order to be able to respond even more faithfully to all that the Spirit has for us.  We’ll explore:

  • Why we govern ourselves through Councils (church meeting, Synod and General Assembly)
  • Why the Bible is as important as it is to us
  • Why we’re so passionate about joining with other denominations
  • Just how committed we are to discipleship and mission
  • How important our public, prophetic role is in our wider society
  • How we can expect the Spirit to lead us into growth and more faithful witness in our communities

Your money back if you’re not excited and inspired

(it’s free …)!

Next Gathering – Save the New Date

The date for our next Partnership Gathering had been set as Saturday 29th January but had to be postponed to the the impact of the Omicron variant.

The new date has been agreed as Saturday 5th March 9:30am – 12:30pm and will conclude (as usual) with an opportunity to join together for a soup n roll lunch. We are hoping to meet at Shaw & Heyside URC and, if we can get the techie stuff to work, we may be able to go hybrid, or at least record some/all of it for later viewing.

Further details will be shared nearer the time, but make sure you have it clearly marked in your diary – we’d hate you to miss out!

Next Gathering – Save the Date

The date for our next Partnership Gathering has been set as Saturday 29th January 2022 9:30am – 12:30pm, and will conclude (as usual) with an opportunity to join together for a soup n roll lunch. We are hoping to meet at Shaw & Heyside URC and, if we can get the techie stuff to work, we may be able to go hybrid, or at least record some/all of it for later viewing.

As with previous gatherings, the objective is for as many folk as possible from our partnership churches to come together to listen and share on a particular theme and to get to know one another as individuals and as church fellowships. The theme for this one is looking at what is the URC and what are Missional Partnerships within it. Some of us have known the URC for many years, some of us are very new to it and maybe haven’t explored it very much, others are feeling weighed down by all the legal requirements and don’t see the point of it all. And I think most of us have questions about the Missional Partnership approach. To help us get to grips with what it’s about, our Mission Mentor (Lawrence Heath-Moore) will be leading us through some of the key points and issues so that we can ensure our Christian witness is as effective as possible.

Further details will be shared nearer the time, but make sure you have it clearly marked in your diary – we’d hate you to miss out!

Missional Partnership Thanksgiving and Commissioning Service

On Saturday 25th September at 10:30am, we will be meeting at Trinity Church, Audenshaw for a special service which will include (somewhat belatedly) our Commissioning as Missional Partnership. We would love to see as many as possible coming together to share this special occasion.

We are hoping to livestream the event for those who can’t make it in person and it will be available on YouTube afterwards if you are otherwise engaged that day.

Refreshments will be served after the service with a chance to catch up with friends from across the partnership.

Partnership Thanksgiving Service

A Note for your diary

We have set the date for a Thanksgiving Service for our Partnership, which will include the formal Commissioning of the Partnership (we’ve only been working in partnership for 2 years already).

The date agreed is Saturday 25th September at 10:30am in the hope that we will be able to gather in person at Trinity, Audenshaw.

The details are yet to be worked out, but book it in your diary.
